What are the basic workings of a heat pump?
A heat pump takes energy from outside and transfers it into heat to be circulated around a heating and hot water system. A heat pump uses electricity to run the components of a heat pump, principally a fan, compressor and circulating pumps to transfer the energy from the heat source into the heat sink or heating system.

Stiebel Eltron was founded on 5th May 1924 by Dr Theodor Stiebel who began with the production of small instantaneous water heaters. Government Funding for Heat Pumps - Boiler Upgrade Scheme
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is a government incentive that will assist with the upfront cost of upgrading your heating system with one of our air to water and ground source heat pumps.
In addition, there is now no VAT on heat pumps – reducing the cost even further.
What grants are available?
Your installer will apply for the grant on your behalf.
You can receive:
- £5,000 off the cost and installation of an air source heat pump
- £5,000 off the cost and installation of a biomass boiler
- £6,000 off the cost and installation of a ground source heat pump
